About Us

The Amateur Organization of Karate, A.O.K. is the oldest open sport karate tournament sanctioning organization in the state of Texas. It was founded in 1977 with only 18 tournaments and has grown to be the largest sanctioning organization in Texas with over 30 tournaments sanctioned by the A.O.K. It was formed to unify the rules of open sport karate tournaments and to give Texas a governing body to regulate sport karate in the state.

They currently have 4 regions:
East – the Houston, Galveston, Beaumont areas
Central – the Austin and San Antonio areas
North – the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex
West – Midland, Odessa, Abilene, and Stephenville areas

The A.O.K. is proud to sanction top notch tournaments that promote amazing underbelt and black belt competitors of all ages. They attract competitors from all of Texas and surrounding states. They host one of the best State Karate Championships every December inviting the top 5 competitors in every division in every region plus the addition of wild card competitors.
